Bocaloco Ships XMLBuddy 2.0
(12/27/2003 Maple Grove, MN) XMLBuddy™ 2.0 is now available.
The new XMLBuddy Pro 2.0 has full
support for DTDs, XML Schema, RELAX NG (both XML and compact
syntax) and XSLT. "After
43,000 downloads, we decided 0.2.8 was actually our 1.0
release," said Bob Foster, Bocaloco President.
"Accordingly, we are proud to announce Release 2.0." The new
release comes in two models, free (as in beer) version and a
low-cost Pro version. "A number
of people have asked us over the past year when we were going to
start charging them for the plug-in they previously downloaded for
nothing, and the answer is, never. XMLBuddy has every feature from
the 0.2.8 pre-release plus a whole lot more: DTD validation and
code assist, code completion, open definition, auto-flow and other
serious editing features. XMLBuddy will continue to be maintained
and enhanced." For a simple way
to compare the two, XMLBuddy has two editors, for XML and DTD
documents, while XMLBuddy Pro has six editors, including a
full-featured editor for RELAX NG compact
syntax. XMLBuddy Pro can
automatically generate a DTD or schema in any of the supported
languages from an XML instance, and can generate a sample instance
from a DTD or schema. It can translate between DTDs or schemas in
any of the supported languages in both
directions. "You often hear XML
experts say that the fastest way to write an XML Schema is to write
it first in RELAX NG compact syntax and translate it to XML
Schema," said Foster. "This can be done in XMLBuddy Pro with a
couple of mouse clicks." Both
models of the plug-in run in Eclipse on Windows, Linux and MacOS X
(and a number of other platforms). The web site at
http://xmlbuddy.com/ has a full description of features in the two
new models.
